Vintage BEIJING OPERA FACIAL MAKEUP FACES Art Miniatures In Box ASIAN Lot of 66. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
This is a boxed set of 66 small masks depicting the China Beijing Opera Types of Facial Makeup used in operas. The facial makeup was generated and transformed from the masks worn by the dancers of the Tang dynasty (618 - 906). Different colors and patterns of the makeup depict the nature of different types of characters. For example red meant loyal and brave, white meant crafty and malicious. The makeup allowed the audience to recognize the characters and their traits. All masks are labeled and fixed to the box. Colors are vibrant and in excellent condition.  The box is covered with red cloth and is in great condition, showing only slight wear from handling, no rips, tears or stains. Measures 13.5" x 5.5" and 2" high when closed
