    Description

This is an EXTREMELY RARE 1923 Silver "LIMA" SOL"  RAISED LIBERTAD (KM 217.1).
Unlike all the other Liberty Seated Sols, the silver content (5 DECIMOS FINO) is NOT included in the design. (Examine photo #1 to see the difference between this and traditional or regular strikes). The mintage for this full sized crown and one year type coin, is officially listed as 3600 pieces.
(By comparison, there were 2,369,000  Peru Sols struck that same year at the Philadelphia mint of the traditional or regular  design which stated the Silver content in bold letters on the obverse
    "5 Decimos Fino").
Krause lists the mintage of this type coin as 3600 pieces for the raised LIBERTAD, and 1400 for the incused Libertad.
Making this coin more desirable is the fact that this coin was not a commemorative and was merely a coin struck for general circulation.  As such, not considered special by anyone, these coins were not saved and very few survive.
Most Peruvian soles have long been melted.
    This specimen is as pictured.
.  The rarity of this coin can also be evidenced by the lack of other listings of these on Ebay.
This coin has been in my possession for 56 years (since 1965) when I acquired it in Lima Peru
    .
It is definitely an heirloom which should be passed on to future generations!
    GOOD LUCK!
