Walker Buehler flipped a switch in the postseason with the Dodgers, helping Los Angeles to a World Series title with strong starting pitching — and along the way, defeating the Mets in the NLCS.
Now, there’s a possibility the free agent right-hander could land in New York.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets have inquired on Buehler, among other starters.
The Mets are looking likely to sign a few pitchers who have a lot of upside but won’t necessarily demand a long-term deal. Buehler could be an option, having pitched to a 5.38 ERA before the playoffs and then putting up 10 scoreless innings across his final three outings for the Dodgers.
The Mets began adding to their thin rotation this week after coming to an agreement with right-hander Frankie Montas. The 31-year-old spent an injury-plagued stint with the Yankees in 2022-23 after they acquired him at the 2022 trade deadline in a deal with the Oakland A’s. But he wasn’t fully healthy and made just eight starts for New York that season.
Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns is looking to rebuild a rotation that currently has lost Sean Manaea, Luis Severino and Jose Quintana to free agency.
